Melvin Oden-Orr
Oden-Orr Law was founded by Melvin Oden-Orr, an attorney with years of experience as corporate counsel as well as private practice. Prior to forming Oden-Orr Law, Mr. Oden-Orr was an Associate General Counsel with the Portland Development Commission where he focused on secured lending, municipal and public law, construction and real estate development. Prior to that he served four years as an Assistant General Counsel with the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (Tri-Met) where he worked primarily on legal issues related to capital projects and facilities, including construction, environmental, real estate, procurement, land use, federal regulations related to mass transit, and eminent domain. He oversaw the legal aspects of a $350 million light rail extension of one of the nations premiere light rail systems. Prior to joining Tri-Met, Mr. Oden-Orr was an attorney in the business department of Tarlow Jordan & Schrader, a prominent Portland construction law firm. Prior to that, he was an associate with the firm of Lane Powell Spears Lubersky LLP. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from UCLA and is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law, where he was a recipient of the esteemed Rickert Award. Mr. Oden-Orr has also served as an adjunct professor at the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College, where he taught a course on Racism and the Law. Mr. Oden-Orr is admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington.
